Biography

Shannon Shorr is a 24 year old professional poker player from Birmingham, Alabama. He is most well-known for his success on the live poker tournament circuit where he has grossed over $3.2 million dollars in earnings. He finished 4th and 19th in Cardplayer.com’s 2006 and 2008 Player of the Year races, respectively. Shannon first made noise in the tournament world as a 20 year old in Melbourne, Australia where he finished in 4th place at the 2006 Aussie Millions for $205,000. Shorr’s biggest tournament score to date came at the Bellagio Cup in 2006 where he won the main event for $650,000. He finished second in a World Series of Poker event in the Summer of 2008 for $350,000. Later that summer at Bellagio, he won an event for $250,000 then two days later finished 3rd in an event for $125,000. In April 2009, Shannon finished 5th at the World Poker Tour Championship for $410,000. He has two additional 6 figures wins at Bellagio and has online wins of $105,000, $101,000, $67,000, $51,000, and $48,000.

Shannon has two sisters, Heather and Carly and is the son of Scott and Debbie Shorr. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham in 2003. He played high school baseball and turned down an offer to play collegiately at The University of Alabama-Birmingham. Shannon is currently working towards completion of his undergraduate Business Management degree at The University of Alabama. He has expressed how important finishing it is to him in his blog on many occasions. He is scheduled to graduate on May 8, 2010.
